As the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced, the documentary OF FATHERS AND SONS (DE / SY, Basis Berlin, Ventana film and television production) is nominated for the 91st Oscar® in the category "Best Documentary Feature". We congratulate the entire team, especially our professor Karim Sebastian Elias, who composed the music. We keep our fingers crossed for the award ceremony on February 24, 2019 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood!

This is another great international success for the film by renowned Syrian filmmaker Talal Derki, who won the World Cinema Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the 34th Sundance Film Festival last year. To shoot the film, Derki returned to his homeland Syria, where he gained the confidence of a radical Islamist family and observed their everyday life for more than two years. He mainly focuses on the children and provides a unique insight into a childhood with a father, whose biggest dream is to raise an Islamic caliphate.

The film, which is distributed by Kino Lorber, has been shown in the US since November 16th 2018. The German release is on March 21st 2019. The original soundtrack (digital version) will be released on February 8th 2019 (worldwide, except Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In Germany the soundtrack will be released on  March 21st 2019).
