Interlibrary loan

You need materials that are not available in our library?

We order literature on loan for all members of the Film University that is not available in the University Library from other libraries in Germany as well as from abroad.

Unfortunately, this service is not available for external library users.

The interlibrary loan desk is located on the third level (room 1028).

Interlibrary loan within Germany is governed by the "Leihverkehrsordnung" (LVO).

For international interlibrary loans, the rules of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) apply.

Only orders that are definitely not available in the University Library will be accepted.

Therefore, please match your requests with our catalogue.

You can order books as well as articles from journals (as copies).

You will need the following information to successfully place an interlibrary loan request:

BOOKS:

  • surname, first name of the author
  • full title
  • place of publication, publisher, year of publication
  • ISBN if applicable
  • indication, if other edition is desired
  • indication of the latest date by which the literature is required

JOURNAL ARTICLE:

  • full title of the journal
  • place of publication, volume, year, issue (very important!)
  • Author and title of the article (preferably page number)

For each interlibrary loan, € 1.50 is charged for German interlibrary loans and € 8 for international interlibrary loans. Additional costs charged by the lending libraries will be passed on to the customer.

Please allow enough time for your order - because an order does not always arrive within 4 weeks.

You must request renewals in person at the Interlibrary Loan department.

Failure to meet the deadline will be penalized according to the fee statutes of the Film University Library.

Furthermore, you have the possibility to register personally in Berlin and Brandenburg libraries.

 

YOU WANT A BOOK OR AN ARTICLE FROM OUR LIBRARY?

Please always contact the library in which you are registered as a reader.

Loan is only possible between libraries!

We deliver all books (etc.) according to the regulations of the library of the Film University.

That means the loan period is 4 weeks and renewal is possible on request.

Since our library contains very special, rare and sometimes unique materials, we reserve the right to impose restrictions on use or lending.

Books from course reserves as well as reference collections are not loaned.

Journal articles will be sent to you as a copy by mail.

Complete Journal issues or entire volumes of journals will not be mailed.

The dispatch of AV media (videos, DVDs etc.) is not possible!
